Custom Alert Designer (CAD)
The CAD allows you to quickly design and deploy custom alerts in your monitor. To access the custom alert designer, open the Configuration Application and click on the icon for the data server that hosts the data on which you want to alert.
Note: The Customize icon is only available in the Central Server Configuration Application, not in the RTViewDataServer Configuration Application.
The panel on the left shows a list of your custom alerts and the main panel allows you to edit those alerts. To get started, click <New> in the display panel to start a new alert. Once you have finished editing your alert, click the Save button at the top of the display list. This will save the alert and deploy it to the data server. Navigate to the Monitor and you will see your new alert in the Alert Administration page where you can enable or disable it as well as set thresholds and duration for it. Back in the designer, click <New> to create another new alert or select an existing alert to continue editing it. Click X (delete) to delete the selected alert or save as to save a copy of the alert.
When you save changes to an existing alert, the previous version of the alert is removed from the data server, causing any active alerts of that type to clear, then the new version is deployed, which may trigger new alerts depending on the settings for the alert in Alert Administration. When you delete an alert, it is deleted from the data server and all settings for it are removed from Alert Administration and the Alert Thresholds database.
Tip: Click the ? button in the top right corner of any section to display help text specific to that section.
Location on Disk
Custom alerts are stored in your installation under projects/custom/alerts. To copy alerts from one data server to another, copy the whole alert directory into the projects/custom directory of the target data server. When deployed with HA data servers, custom alerts will be saved to the active data server installation. You will need to manually copy them over to the backup data server. All of the alerts in the projects/custom/alerts directory are loaded by the data server on startup.
